You should try Donato's in the Manoa Marketplace before it closes in February. They have an 5:30-6:30 early bird special for about $20.00. The chef doesn't serve the heavy garlic-oil type of dishes that most of the Italian restuarants on Oahu prepare, that were influenced by Cas Castegnolla. The Verbano's in Manoa Market Place was originally "Castegnollas". The people working for him, mainly from Southeast Asia, opened restaurants like Salerno's, Verbano's, Ricado's and Assagio's and apparently drove him out of business. I recall an article on him where he felt that he would have been fine if they opened non Italian restaurants.
