any special occasion restaurants near Kapaa Kauai

I would appreciate any restaurant suggestions for a birthday celebration in May.
We are staying near Kapaa.
I found out the pacific cafe is closed.
Are there any other suggestions in the area..some kind of view would be nice too!

Monico's Taqueria was probably the best meal I had on the island while we were there. Kintaro was good sushi - not life changing but very fresh. The rock and roll was really good.

Coconuts (Kapaa) is quite good and a wonderful place for a special occasion. So is Hukilau in the Kauai Coast Resort (walking distance from The Islander). Hukilau is owned by the same folks that own Gaylord's in Puhi- one of the best special occasion restaurants on the island. Scotty's just opened up recently in Kapaa- I ate lunch there and it was good and inexpensive. Everything is BBQ there (well, they do have fish & chips and burgers too) and the view is wonderful. It is not fancy but is getting good reviews. One of our favorites is Kintaro's (in Wailua close to Kapaa) which is a local favorite. Your group can sit at a Teppenyaki Bar and have your food cooked in front of you. Delicious. Great sushi bar. Make reservations everywhere you want to eat. May will be full house time here on Kauai.

thank you cathy z from kauai for the great suggestions. I was hoping early May would be a quieter time. Is it always busy in May or just this year????

Try the Beach House in nearby Poipu. Avoid the Bull Shed.

Beach house would be my pick although it gets better reviews for its view than for its cuisine.

I also would consider Roy's less of a view but great food. If you live in NYC you know what a find any of the Roy's restaurants are. They are part of chain but the chefs on location are trying to make a name for themselves and the food is top notch and reasonable prices for what is clearly haute cuisine in NYC.

Both of these suggestions are a drive from Kapaa.

Another suggestion would be Princeville hotel. They have a great seafood buffet on Friday night with a breath taking view of Balhi. If you have done any research on Kauai you know the view I am talking about.
If you don't want the Buffet the view alone will provide a memorable experience any night you dine there.

Would love to know where you are staying on Kauai.Sending over two sisters this year, they are coming to me for suggestions. I usually rent a condo. Find it lends more space and ability to cook some of the time. Fresh Tuna on any of the islands is great.

            Thanks

My wife and I went to the Beach House on our honeymoon and it was great. The food was solid and the ocean view was great. It's pricey but we felt you got what you paid for.
