chowing in Maui

Just spent a week in Maui, tried out Roys in Kahana, A Pacific Cafe, Merriman's Bamboo Bistro and I'o. Also did a walk-through the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons, checked out the menus there only. A Pacific Cafe was fantastic, had kahlua pig wontons, asparagus grilled on kiawe wood and duck with caramel passionfruit sauce--yum!!! I'o was also excellent, tried pohole fern salad, tasted sort of like asparagus--they were really good. Roys was great, tried a sweet sake for the first time and had their chocolate souffle for dessert...Merriman's Bamboo Bistro was just okay...not overwhelmingly good--tried their phyllo wrapped goat cheese and pan-fried noodles topped with stir fried vegetables; maybe their fish dishes are much better but I'm not a fish eater. A fun, yummy week!!!
