Staying at the Milford Plaza this weekend and thru Monday looking to get the best Pizza by the slice close to the hotel or in Times Square?

I like Famiglia--it's a chain, but the grandma's slice exra hot hits the spot every time for me!

Also St. John's pizza on 45th @ 8th Ave. Pizza isn't to die for, but quite good for the area. The ambience of a converted church also adds a lot to the experience.

Does St. John's serve slices, or just whole pies?
        Thanks

There is a place on 9th Avenue and 41st street that serves take out only. The pizza is 99 cents a slice and the owners are definitely not Italian but the crust is yeasty, the cheese is hot, the lines can be long, and they have run every pizza place out of business in a 5 block radius. All they make is pizza- 24hrs a day, seven days a week. And they deliver (each large pie plain is $8.00)

I second Pizza Paradise on 45th. I also like LaFamiglia on 50th. I didn't like Little Italy on 45th.

Little Italy, which has an outpost on W. 45 between 5th & 76th has very good pizza, both tradtional and with more inventive toppings.

Chicago Mike did a tasting a while back and recommended a place called Pizza Paradise on 45th btw 5th and 6th. I'm also partial to the slices at L'Allegria on 45th just east of 9th, though they've slipped a bit over the years.

That's a tough one. Bella Napoli on W. 49th between Sixth and Seventh is a cut above the norm for that area, though it's nothing exceptional.
