Best Black & White cookie

I've heard that Leske's bakery in Bay Ridge makes a good cookie, but I found the icing is a bit soft and fluffy, and the cookie is too cake-like for me, not like the firmer texture I'm looking for.
When I was a kid there was a bakery near Dafara's pizzeria that made an amazing one with a thin rasberry layer in between the cookie and icing, but I haven't been around there in years.
Much appreciated.

    1. Try Nussbaum & Wu at 113th & Broadway in Manhattan. I haven't found a Black and White cookie there that I don't like... in fact, the Black and Tan cookie is my favorite. I haven't found a better one in the UWS and Midtown at least.

I'd be interested to sample the raspberry black and white cookie you reference here -- I love raspberry and B&W cookie so that sounds divine!

          Is the tan mocha flavored?

              Actually, I believe it's coffee. It's delicious.

In case anyone is still reading this I was very disspaointed with the Black and Tan and the White and Tan--both were way too sweet, nearly inedible.

Zomicks when fresh, on Central Ave in Cedarhurst, NY

                2. There is a fabulous jewish bakery right across from DiFara's that makes an amzing balck and white. It doesn't have rasberry filling, but apparently the cake is made with a bit of fruit in it to keep it moist.

I grew up in NYC, and this is my favorite!

                    1. where is di fara's pizza?

                        1. I searched all over. You can find the best at Tina's Bakery on Ralph Avenue in Brooklyn. They bend when they are fresh. The rugalas are the best also. They are so fresh that when put on display they are slightly crisp. Yummy

                            1. I think you refer to Sterns Bakery. It was a German Jewish bakery at J & E.12th street. They also made the best Rasberry Russian Tea Cakes I ever tasted. Unfortunately they went out of bussiness more than 20 years ago. Grey.

                                1. The Donut Pub on 14th just west of 7th sells spectacular black and white. (I never end my search and used to like La Delice on 27th and 3rd but lately their fronting tastes 'old.')

Like you my search never ends- mainly because no place that I find at any point to be "best" ever stays that way. Either their recipe changes or they close. Most consistently great one is Wm Greenberg's.

You'd better get over to the Donut Pub, I think you'll be delighted. And as you point out, there's little time to waste!

Ditto on Greenberg's. Our old favorite, Lichtman's Hungarian Bakery, is long gone, but Greenberg does put out a consistently worthy b&w.

Donut Pub is the hands down winner. It's fabulous!
