I don't pretend to know which Indian cuisine this represents, but these are my two favorite dishes at Indian restaurants and are something of a litmus test for me--any restaurant that does these well does other things well.

What is/are the best place(s) for Chicken Tikka Masala and naan? FYI, I like my CTM on the creamy side, like how they do it at Darbar India in Branford, CT, and I like my naan soft, thin, crispy on the outside, buttery, and just out of the oven.

mmm... I'm getting hungry.

We have had very juicy, delicious chicken tikka at Kalustyan's Cafe. And the naan's not too shabby either.

We've had fabulous food at Devi, including superb naan. While we haven't yet sampled the chicken tikka, posts on the Manhattan board from other Hounds who have had it indicate that it is a fine version.

Although there is no sauce with the chicken tikka, it has been marinated in a lemon/rosemary marinade. The great skill of the tandoor master keeps it extremely juicy and flavor-filled. It is served with some tasty harissa, plus a delicious arugula and Asian pear salad. You can see the entire menu and all the prices (lunch and dinner) on Menupages. I've provided the link.

I had chicken tikka masala at Brick Lane Curry House on 6th Street last night. It was excellent, and so was the naan. I liked it a lot better than Angon.

went to haandi about a month ago. the tandoori chicken and vegetable dishes were the best. and significantly good at that. and cheap. the CTM was alright. not bad, but i have had better (i even think baluchi's CTM is better....more flavorful) and the naan wasnt that awesome. forgetting the fact that my stomach exploded after, i would certianly have some haandi again.

Try the Curry Leaf over on 28th (maybe 27th) and lex. REALLY good indian place, good portions, fair prices (11.95 for CTM), and good service!
For jerseyites...try one of the 2 Indian Places in Hoboken. Definitely the best around (far better than kinara in edgewater).
