257977 Mon Oct 11 14:34:12 -0700 2004 5 21 The Best 0 1365626 I wandered into a wine store near my workplace not too long ago...and, in my opinion, it is the best wine store in NYC...maybe America. It is a small place on 2nd avenue called City Wine. From the outside it looks like just another NYC liquor store. But there are usually a couple young guys inside, behind the counter, drinking wine, and everything they sell is DELICIOUS! My test for a good wine store (and a sensitive wine palate) is can yoou identify great 'value' wines i.e. wines that taste wonderfull but are 15 dollars or less....and these guys can. In my opinion they are the first wine store owners I have met whose taste in wine mirrors my own. I am hesitant to post this because for the last few months I have been enjoying the store as my little secret, but I do want these guys, who taste everything they stock (they wont sell it if they won't drink it) and take enormous care in their store, to do well.
