Jersey City - Wild Fusion
Someone below was looking for Jersey City recommendations for vegetarian. I tried Wild Fusion on Grove Street today. I am trying to give up chicken (not because of this bird flu hysteria, just my own personal reasons) and thought their menu offered a good enough selection to experiment with an alternative rather than my usual, beef.
I ate outside, the only diner out there - figured I would get lousey service but the I was wrong. The staff was very attentive. I explained that I am trying to learn more about tofu and soy options. I also explained that I prefer small pieces to large ones (I tried a soy gluten thing in Westbury recently as part of my experimentation and the pieces were so big with a disgusting texture, I threw most of it out).
The waitress brought the cook over and made sure he created my Tangerine Crispy Tofu with small pieces.
It wasn't quite as spicy as I would have liked but I was otherwise pleased. The portion would easily have fed two, it was presented nicely and all of the pieces were very consistent and well coated in the tangerine sauce.
I didn't go inside but in general what I saw seemed very clean. Also, their lunch specials seem reasonable. They are priced similar to regular take out restaurants but this place is definately more sophisticated than takeout in a strip mall.

Just tried wild fushion last night, and was quite disappointed. I ordered the scallion pancake and sizzling beef, while my friend ordered the mango chicken. The scallion pancake came in a pretty big stack and was quite good. The sizzling beef which really sizzled was a disappointment however. The meat had this slightly sourish taste which was obviously a result of it being quite old. I made my friend try a piece and concurred by taking the piece (after chewing it for a few second ) out of mouth and placing it on a plate. The service left much to be desired. The young man who served us never came by to check and make sure everything was ok. They don't serve there and I had finished drinking my soda. Did the guy ever come by and ask if wanted more? No! The sizzling beef was untouched at the end of our meal. Did he ask if everything was OK on seeing the full plate ?NO
I don't plan to go there again. The place is too expensive for this sort of thing
