"Polynesian"-style restaurants in Central NJ?

cozmikchuck Jan 17, 2006 12:21 PM

These were all the rage in the late '60s through the '70s (even into the early '80s). I remember that Matawan (NJ) had Steven Wong's "The Islanders" and there was "Lee's Hawaiian" up in Lyndhurst. Are there still any Polynesian restaurants in the state...you know, the type that served mai-tai and flaming Kova Bowl drinks, had tables inside little straw "huts" and served dishes like Hawaiian steak.

Chan's is THE place to go in NNJ for really good, really authentic Polynesian food. I was there a month ago and everything was incredibly delicious. I'm going to have good dreams about Hawaiian Steak now!
