How old are the kids? Will they make a nice spot (nice for others) into an intolerable one?
If they're the sort who can rise to an occasion, I highly recommend Plumbush, in Cold Spring. We've had Thanksgiving there twice, both times with kids who were thrilled to be in a nice place. Wonderful food and atmosphere.

Just over the CT border is the Greenwich Hyatt Regency. They have a great Thanksgiving buffet at several different seatings. My family has been going there for a couple of years. It's not cheap but we enjoy the atmosphere and food.
