z in south Norwalk HORRIBLE service - be warned

went saturday night at 9:30pm party of 4 and should have heeded the warning of the woman outside who said she had been waiting FOREVER for her apps. Well we had a GC to Z so decided we didn't mind a leisurely pace.

we're seated and proceed to wait and wait and wait, someone stops by for a drink order, I ask for a wine list - reply to me "we have everything, what do you want" allrighty then. 30 minutes go by - no drinks. Another person comes by - to take our dinner order and our drinks AGAIN. No hi I'm your waiter, no specials just "what do you want". If I was paying for this I would have left. At this point, we weren't the only ones glaring at anyone who worked there hoping for some kind of action.

20 more minutes - hooray we have drinks or rather 3 out of our 4. The fourth (my glass of wine -) arrives 10 minutes later.

another 35 minutes apps arrive - can we get some more drinks? we innocently ask thinking this is actually a place where they serve food and drink. We get another glare, drinks arrive staggered again one at a time.

It IS almost comical at this point, we look around wondering if this is that boiling points show on MTV, alas it is not. But what is funny is that they are not even that busy and it's like they are slammed.

Entrees arrive: Mine absolutely mediocre angel hair pasta w/lobster ($28) my husband's Mahi Mahi mediocre as well. The only entree that was good was the Kobe hamburger.

Appetizer was good - perfectly fried calamari - but again everything came out one at a time.

We entered at 9:15 left at 11:45 w/o dessert (which was never offered)

Just a warning to all Chowhounds I'd go elsewhere this place is wack.

    1. I ate there several months ago. We were the only two people in the place (this was the end of lunch) and the service was still terrible. The food was mediocre to boot. With all of the great restaurants in that area, there's absolutely no point in going to Z.

        1. I went there when it first opened a couple years ago and the service was horrible that night. We thought it was just because it was new. I guess they have not changed much, good think we never went back!
