  1. Not much there...

If you're lucky, there is a cornell bbq chicken stand just south of town, on route 14. Not to be confused with Mr. Chicken, in town.

Capt. Bills on Seneca Lake is a nice view, but pricey.

For the better breakfast (never been there for lunch, since I'm always driving at the track during lunchtime), try Savard's Family Restaurant in town.

I would never go to Watkins Glen for the food.

I agree, unless things have changed the food is really bad here. Try going up the lake to wineries & hotels by Geneva, or over to Ithaca for an excellent choice of restaurants; it's just about 1/2 hour drive.

You might also consider the Hickory House on Rte 14 between Horseheads and Millport.

thanks, we're actually going for the scenery, but I'd though we'd get a decent meal along the way!

      3. My neighbor (a professional foodie) swears by the Wildflower Cafe in Watkins Glen--you might want to check it out. By the way, the waterfalls in Watkins Glen are INCREDIBLE!

Wildflower Cafe is now a brewpub, associate with Crooked Rooster Brewing. They have better than average pub food and a pretty good ale (dog-something (-fish? -head? -food?)
