There was a recent post below requesting places in my hometown (1950-1970) of Englewood, NJ. Next month, we are returning to Bergen County for a visit and one of my very favorite places was always Tracy's 9 Mile House in Little Ferry (since the 1950's). Best steak sandwiches I've ever had.

On our last visit, two years ago, we discovered a fantastic pizza place - Brooklyn Pizza. It was on River Road in Hackensack. It was as good as Rome IMHO. I would appreciate updates on either of these two places. Still there? Still good?

I always loved Hirums and grew up on Sol and Sol in Englewood. Sadly, two of the all time best all-time Bergen County Chinese places are not longer in Business - Hing's China Inn in Englewood Cliffs and the China Quarter in Tenafly.

Any good recommendations for Chinese in the Hackensack/Fairlawn/Rochelle Park area? I hear China 46 is good, but perhaps there is another good place closer to where we are staying?

Both are still open and still popular. If you like pizza, try Lido on the end of Main St.--just blocks from Brooklyn Pizza. Lido is a local legend. Only open for dinner. Cash only. No reservations; you gotta wait in line. Their pizza is the best. Very good steak sandwiches too.

sadly, tracey's is no longer open! it is now something called K town nightclub or something to that effect! grew up near there and ate often since the early '60's. was driving back from Mass to PA and decided to stop in and was greatly saddened! loved the steak sandwiches for decades! story was that the owner decided to retire and close up in Dec 2011?
