Friend told me that today was the first full day in business. True Sake is located at 560 Hayes St., between Laguna and Octavia. I drove by tonight, and it has a lime green sign.

Driving by Broadway last weekend in North Beach, I noticed a Sake Bar opened up across the street from Fuse, I don't remember what it was called, could well have been called Sake Bar. Looked very trendy so if anyone has been, let us know! Must be the season of Sake Bar openings! =)

That would be Sake Lab...I'm interested in hearing how it is too. I mentioned it to a Japanese speaking friend who then quipped, "are you sure it doesn't specialize in salmon?" [salmon = sake in Japanese]

My understanding of True Sake's set up is that it is a retail store and not a bar, although tastings may be available in the future.

Your friend must have been a little tongue in cheek.
Formally, the correct pronunciation is sa-ke, but most everyone pronounces it sha-ke in everyday life in order to prevent confusing salmon with the drink sake. However, sake the drink, and sake the fish, have the same syllables, but the intonation is slightly different.

Yes, that's what I meant by "quipped". Thanks for the intonation lesson, yet, I'm not sure how that would be differentiated in neon lights. Still, I wouldn't be unhappy to have a salmon boutique in North Beach. ;-J
