Cafe Rosalena

A great spot in San Jose for lunch, this place sparkles with its great service, cleanliness and chow. The wait staff are super efficient and even hot lunches are up in no time.
We ordered the Signature Grilled Chicken Caeser is a huge shareable plate of crisp romaine, shredded parmesean, and the most tender chicken piled on a colorful oval plate. The sandwiches also looked very fine with names like the Shasta-Hanchett, Race Street italian sub that reflect the nearby Rose Garden neighbourhood.

The place is right next door the renown Greenlee's Bakery which is busy pumping out aromatic cinnamon molecules streetside. So go there for dessert as a bonus.

We went to Cafe Rosalena for breakfast twice In May & June '06. The service was rude and distant. The atmosphere was chaotic and tense both times. The staff seemed to be totally involved in getting catering orders together and treated us like we were an interruption. Our orders took forever to receive and both times there were screwups and we had to wait again for replacements. The first time the breakfast burrito was wonderful the second time it only had half of the promised ingredients. My ham and eggs featured salty pressed ham coldcuts. I got about 5 pieces of dry potatoes and toast that wasn't the slightest bit browned.

The last time we were there they were out of decaf coffee. When I told the woman at the counter she barked at me "if you want it refilled YOU HAVE TO bring the carafe to me"

I'll never go back to this place. The food we had was horrible and the staff has no clue as to how to give good customer service. Maybe lunch is better, but I say stay away far away!
