Are there any Chinese joints that come close to Flushing quality in Nassau or Suffolk County?
I heard about someplace in Huntington that supposedly
has a decent Dim Sum.
Also, is Hong Kong Seafood House, on Old Country Road worth visiting???
Thanks!

The place in Huntington, East Buffet, is an all-you-can eat buffet with pretty high-quality food (at least for a buffet). They do have a number of dim sum items which are decent.

I recommend Fortune Wheel, in Levittown, for authentic Cantonese fare. It's on Hempstead Tpke in a mall. Their food is fresh and good, and they do dim sum on weekends.

I guess it's Fortune Wheel then, since I never met a chinese buffet I could tolerate.
Not to be a snoot about it or anything...
My ex is a buffet maven, and I got dragged to way too many of them...a lifetimes worth.
But on the other hand, I have heard good things about East/West elsewhere.
But what about H/K/S House in Plainview?
I drove by there the other day and their lot was teeming with what appeared to be hungry Asians....
Hmmm?

By God, I'll do it!
Actually, I spoke with someone this past weekend who regularly eats at both Fortune Wheel and HK Seafood House. He claimed that although FW is superior, HKSH comes in a close secound.
Since he's a fairly regular visitor to the Flushing scene, his opinion is probably valid.

I was there on Monday for lunch, and it's just as wonderful as always. I had dim sum and a noodle dish: shiu mai, pea-leaf dumplings (with shrimp, very wonderful), roast pork buns, perhaps the best sticky rice I've ever eaten, and definitely the best Singapore rice noodles I've ever eaten.

It's on Old Country Rd. in Plainview, just west of the Seaford Oyster Bay Parkway.

Has anyone tried the barbeque place next door? It looks intriguing.

I had lunch today at HK Seafood House, and ordered the Singapore rice noodles on your recomendation. I've never had these before - so I have no idea if they were good or not - so I am curious, what you found so great about them. I thought they were very dry. I just didn't get them - everything else was delicious.

The best Chinese restaurant in Nassau or Suffolk Counties strangely enough, imho, is a buffet; East on Rte 110. The others two that I held in esteem , again, imho, The Orient in Bethpage and Fortune Wheel are on a downhill alert.

We had dinner at Hong Kong Seafood this weekend, and it is still splendid: Excellent dim sum, to start. We also had a special, soft shell crabs with chili salt. They turned out to be lightly battered & fried, which is normally not something we'd enjoy; but this was simply too good to stop eating.

Seafood panfried noodles were also excellent, and the whole meal was under $30.
