At the moment I'm dreading the move, not the least because the only lunch choice will be the company's cafeteria. Gone will be the days of falafel carts, of myriad choices all available for delivery within 15 minutes. Or am I wrong?

I work for Morgan Stanley, we're moving into the former Texaco headquarters at 2000 Westchester Avenue, actually in Purchase.

Is there hope for a chowhound in Westchester?

I have worked in mid town and currently work about 5 minutes from your new location. Forget abut delivery and a myriad of cuisine choices. Having said that, you can follow Westchester Avenue about 10 minutes and you will be in the center of Port Chester, which does have a tremendous variety of Latin American places and has been extensively discussed here.

The Cobblestone Pub on Anderson Hill Road near SUNY Purchse has great burgers, decent American style chow, and good beers.

In White Plains just two minutes up Westchester ave you have Reka's Thai, Lazy Boy Saloon (for a great selection of beers, the best in Westchester County and incredible, award winning Buffalo wings and decent pub food), A great small Mexican place just off of Lake Ave on Kensico Rd that has killer tamales and other tasty food for low prices... I hope your Spanish is good because only one employee speaks English, several Jamaican, African, and other ethnic food spots on mamaroneck Ave, the Latin Cafe for Cuban style eats on East Post Rd and Mamaroneck Ave... all in all, White Plains has some kick-ass grub and it's only a few minutes from where you will be working.

Both prior responses are right on. Either go to Port Chester or White Plains, both for a wide array of ethnic. In WP, Bengal Tiger has wonderful Indian (and a good buffet lunch from what I have heard). They also have an interesting range of Balti (sp?) dishes, which I have not seen at other Indian. I also like Lazy Boy (particularly for Belgian beers after work), and Latin American for good Cuban. My favorites are the ropa vieja and shrimp in green sauce. For a wonderful meal in Port Chester, I love the old-timer place Piero's. It is a similar dining experience to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Also good and close to you is FISH, a new and wonderful fish spot in Port Chester on the water. From your office, all places listed in WP or PC are not far.

I left Purchase for a job in Brooklyn 6 months ago, but my favorites were: hot dogs at Walters hot dog stand (Mamaroneck - worth the drive on a summer's day), Rye Ridge Deli (NY style deli over stuffed sandwiches at NY prices - not an every day type of place), June and Ho's in Rye (although I think they closed, if they've moved, they're worth going to for sandwiches and salads), there's also a Cosi in Rye - if you like that chain, Lenny's in Rye Brook or Upper Crust in Rye for bagels and bagel sandwiches, and on a nice summer day, go to the deli on Anderson Hill Road, pick up a sandwich and go to Pepsico's sculpture garden and enjoy a picnic lunch.
