My girlfriend and I have been to the West Portal Fresca several times, and we love it. Last week we went to the new Fillmore location, and were dissappointed to see that everything on the menu was a couple of dollars more. I guess that's how they pay the Pac Heights rent.

My advice--take Muni down to the west portal location.

You must point out, however, that the ceviche here is not available in all it's forms in wp.
I would go to fresca any night of the week to get the ceviche - it is absolutely outstanding. I've only had better at Limon, but at L one needs to take a few aspirin first and bring earplugs to avoid going deaf while having the worst headache ever due to the deafening noise in that place (I'll never never never go back, but I do remember saying it was the best Ceviche I've ever had).

I preferred the ceviche at Limon and Habana over the ones at Fresca. Actually, I preferred all of the food at these other places, over Fresca.

Try Limon for lunch, the noise level is way more tolerable. Been there many times, and all of the food is great. The mussels with the salsa and hominy show up in a few too many places...but the taste makes up for the repetition.

Habana was also impressive. Fresh food, interesting flavors.
