You all know about Colony Grill in Stamford for pizza, right?

  • u

You already knew about this place. The best pie within a 42.34 mile radius of Stamford, CT. (MapQuest says it's that far to New Haven).

This is a townie bar with an expanded dining section in the light industrial part of town south of 95. It's the place that local company softball teams visit after games. It's a place that still serves Schaeffer on tap. It's a place where families take their kids for pizza amidst locals drinking beers watching the games on TV. The place is not raunchy or smoky - really, it's fine to take kids. From 5:00 - 7:00 it's about 40% kids.

Colony cranks out one type of food in one size - a frisbee-sized pizza with choices of standard toppings. It's a thin bar pie cooked perfectly. They're so busy from dine-in and take-out that you'll wait at least 30-45 minutes for your pie, but you'll quickly see why people are willing to wait that long. Parking is tough going around there.

Go get some.

  1. This place's gone waaaaaaaaay downhill recently.

    1. No doubt the best pizza in and around Stamford. A hot oil pie is an absolute must to order!
After the new owners took over, the sauce and the oil has changed a bit, but it still is the best around.
