The Kneaded Bread-Portchester

  • r

After having said in a recent post that this bread place in Portchester was just OK, I revisited it for the first time in about a year this past weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. I had bought bread here over a half dozen times, starting soon after it opened and stopping last spring, thinking the product was overpriced for what you got. This past weekend I found the quality much higher and the varieties that I thought poorly done were no longer on sale (except for the brioche). I didn't try the brioche, but the country white and Irish soda bread were both excellent. The place has also been physically redesigned to be more consumer friendly as well.

  1. I LOVE the Kneaded Bread. Jeff Cohn (owner, baker) and his wife Jen are lovely people. We have always been satisfied with the quality and variety of breads and muffins. And at lunchtime, they have these sort of fru fru gourmet sandwiches....which are quite tasty.
My favorite in the morning is the lemon poppy muffin (YUM) and my 3 yr old LOVES the jelly briosche...It's a nice place to stop for some great bread and there really is no place like it in the area. I'm glad to see an establishment like this in Port Chester.

    1. I've always liked The Kneaded Bread and now that they've expanded it's even better. The chocolate bread is terrific with big chunks of chocolate. I know a lot of people who go there just for the cheese bread. I also like their sandwiches which are very limited in assortment and they now have cakes and other assorted pastries. The thing that I'm looking forward to is when they add soup to the menu which should be sometime in the near future. One note - they do not have a slicer.
