Thanks to Uncledave's post about great eats in Port Chester my friend and I trekked up to Crossroads Cafe this last weekend. Unfortunately we missed brunch which ends at the ungodly hour of 11:30 (isn't brunch until 2?) but we more than made up for it with the best salad and sandwiches I've had in a long time...and I am not a Sandwich person.

Let me start by saying part of what made the sandwich's so good is that the bread did not dominate, but was fresh, crusty and warm.

We had a spectacular thin sliced steak sandwich with caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese which was delicious.

My friend had a roast chicken sandwich with cheddar, crisp bacon and avocado...how could she go wrong?

But the best was a spinach salad with a sesame dressing. the salad was topped with beets, goat cheese and real crab...I have been thinking about it ever since.

I have found a new haunt!

  1. So glad you enjoyed yourself. I haven't tried those dishes yet - thanks for the tip.

You'll love the breakfasts next time. Don't forget the side order of sweet potato & sausage hash.
