Hi all. I am planning a wedding on Long Island and am looking for any info. you may have about a great place for a rehearsal dinner and a wedding. What matters is GOOD FOOD (and I guess, keeping the costs relatively down). I'm from the Huntington area so North Shore mid-Nassau to mid-Suffolk would be best but would go to the south shore if necessary. I'm not into the whole Hamptons thing at all, though. Thanks in advance.

I've never actually eaten there, but when we were looking for wedding places we were impressed with the Thatched Cottage right there in Huntington. Of course, we didn't end up there - we ended up at the Kittle House in Chappaqua, which was terrific! But the Thatched Cottage is pretty, has a beautiful outside, and I know they have tastings.

My brother just got married at Thatched Cottage and the food was delicious. It's a very nice place. It really depends on how many people you are having. I got married at Westbury Manor and it was wonderful.

The Metropolitan, in Glen Cove, has top-notch food, and a cosmopolitan, sophisticated atmosphere - not at all catering hall-ish. It has a bit of a NYC feel. The house-made hors d'oeuvres are great, especially the spanikopita and the grilled shrimp. The only drawback is that there aren't grounds on which to take photos. But check them out!
