What matters is GOOD FOOD (and I guess, keeping the costs relatively down). I'm from the Huntington area so North Shore mid-Nassau to mid-Suffolk would be best but would go to the south shore if necessary. I'm not into the whole Hamptons thing at all, though. Of course, we didn't end up there - we ended up at the Kittle House in Chappaqua, which was terrific! But the Thatched Cottage is pretty, has a beautiful outside, and I know they have tastings. It really depends on how many people you are having. I got married at Westbury Manor and it was wonderful. It has a bit of a NYC feel. The house-made hors d'oeuvres are great, especially the spanikopita and the grilled shrimp. The only drawback is that there aren't grounds on which to take photos.
