Thanks.

Panama Hatties got 3 *** in the NY Times recently.
I ate there about 3 years ago and it was very nice.
It is in Huntington.
On the french side and also very highly regarded is Mirabelle in St. James. Might be a little too romantic, though.
Also in Huntington on Jericho Tpke is Piccola Bussola.
Excellent Northern Italian served family style. If you like this kind of food this is a reliable choice.

I too would suggest La Mirabelle, but haven't been there for a while and wonder if it might be in the range to creep out of your budget? If you'd consider going further east, La Plage in Wading River is wonderful. Small, across the street from the Sound, French-based very well prepared food. Best I've tried out there.

ok place if you don't mind looking out the window at parked cars. a wedding day should have more to look at than a Nissan Pathfinder...and its not impossible to spend as much here as in Mirabelle.

Pasta Pasta in Port Jeff, 331-5335. A longtime favorite; not too formal, romantic, but not "foofy" - exposed wood, fresh flowers, attentive service. Great breadbasket, unique pastas (black ravioli filled with lobster is my personal fave), good desserts, water glasses with lemon slices. Is it just me, or is finding good drinking water in a restaurant near-impossible? You can BYOB (champagne, perhaps?) for a decanting charge of $5 per bottle (last I checked) and avoid the winelist markup. Within your price range in terms of entrees, desserts $6.50-7.00, appetizers $7 to 9-ish? I've always enjoyed it.
