Recommendations in CapeMay, NJ?

  • d

Our family (2 adults, 3 kids) is spending 4 days in
Cape May over the Labor Day weekend and would like some
input on good food in the area. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

    I'm afraid I don't recall the name, but I had a good
crab dinner at a restaurant south of town, on the road
    to the ferry to Maryland.

I should have noted that this was two summers ago.

Last February, we ate at the Lobster House on the north side of town just across the bridge from the main section. While not spectacular, my crab cakes were quite good, and the rest of the seafood there look good. There is also the Washington Inn, which gets a lot of press, but I expect that, on a busy weekend, you will not be able to get in unless you made reservations by last Thanksgiving.

    2. There are quite a few really good(but expensive)
      places in Cape May.

410 Bank Street (my favorite), Frescoes, Water's Edge,
The Ebbitt's Room (In the Virginia Hotel), or less
costly is Louisa's (on a side the Mall)

I have always longed to sample the traditional
southern cooking at the Chalfonte Hotel. They are
well set up for families (maybe still a separate kids
dining room?) and have had a reputation for quality at
a reasonable price for many years. How is that rep
        these days??

I ate in a good fun restaurant that was great for
families. I think it was the Lobster House but am not
