brighton beach: PRIMROSKI lunch special

we went to brighton beach this morning and to PRIMROSKI for the $5.98 lunch special. you get an app, a main and coffee or tea.

we got ukranian beef borscht soup and karcho (rice & lamb soup). the borscht was peppery and both were delicious.

for mains we got meat blintzes and salyanka lamb. you get two styles of blintzes rolled with the same finely ground and spiced meat along with a dollop of sour cream. both of these were filling and fine, but the soups were the highlight.

i would rec PRIMROSKI for visitors and those looking for a cheap filling lunch after a day at the beach. it sure seems stable over the years. M&I GROCERY has a cafeteria upstairs and is another brighton fav of mine.

this is one of the great meal deals in the city - both the lamb and chicken dishes and soups are terrific, as is their homemade bread and cabbage salad. does the cabbage salad still come with the meal?
sometimes you have to ask for the bread, too.

i forgot to mention that. yes the cabbage salad does still come with the meal and it's delicious as always.

the fabulous bread round is extra, but they offer it and we got that too of course.

the lunch for two, w/ the bread is now about $15 and something. we left a 20 dollar bill for everything.
