I have searched and have not been able to find Heavy Cream (not Ultra Pasteurized). The Ultra-P does not whip up the same or give the same results in recipes.

Any source appreciated...even in Manhattan. Whole Foods doesn't have it.

Have you tried Ronnybrook Farm? They're at Grand Army Plaza every Saturday. I've also seen their stuff at Back to the Land on 7th Ave and Fresh Direct.

Second this--most commercially avaliable cream is UP. Seem to remember seeing some just pastuerized stuff at either the coop or Key Food where they sell lots of different brands. But Ronnybrook has the best flavor of all even though it is pricey.

Thanks for all the information. I tried Trader Joe and Whole Foods in Union Square..no luck. I will try your suggestions.

I guess I am not the only person looking for the real deal. Do you all think it makes that much of a difference?

I prefer it for whipping or if I'm going to use a lot at once, but since I usually cook for one or two, I generally buy the UP to "keep around" since the regular pasteurized has a dramatically shorter shelf life.

Did you even look at the WF house brand?

TJ's in union sq should have had it. maybe they were just out? all the other TJs i've been to stock it (from garelick , as pvs poster noted..). and i do notice a difference. richer, thicker, tho seems to take longer to whip up. worth it tho

I didn't even realize their was a Whole Foods in Brooklyn, but they do have it. To my pleasant surprise, their house brand is regular pasteurized. I don't know if they have different suppliers or if it varies, but I picked up a half a pint last week at the store on Union Square in Manhattan.

Thanks - I rarely get to the part of Brooklyn, but it's good to know.

I wasn't sure if Fleur meant there was one already or that she'd tried in Manhattan and didn't see it.

Yes! Park Natural on Court St. in Carroll Gardens has Natural By Nature heavy cream, which is NOT ultra-pasteurized.

Ronnybrook heavy cream is good too, if you can find it at the farmer's market (you can always get it at the Ronnybrook store in Chelsea Market).

Whole foods does have Ronnybrook's Heavy Cream. The ones in the yellow capped plastic (vs. glass) bottles are less expensive. I think though it might be cheaper if you can get them at farmer's market, like others have suggested.
