Apologies to those who probably think this is like shooting fish in a barrel (it should be, right?), but who can deliver me a good, old-school pie in Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens?

I recently moved to this 'hood and fell in love with Nick and Joe's on Court near State, but they just closed up after over 50 years in business. Geez!

Also, additional apologies for this topic to our Jewish friends. Happy Pesach. Maybe order yourself a little something next week.

After a lot of intense pizza research in Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill I think my favorite would have to be Sals Pizza Store on Court and Degraw. Their margherite pie, while not quite Grimaldi's calibar, is pretty outstanding. A friend of mine just recommended the House of Pizza and Calzones over on Union (I think almost in Red Hook) but I can't vouch for it myself.

Happy eating.

Sam's Restaurant on Court has a great pizza and fun timewarp atmosphere. It's definitely my favorite in the 'hood.
They don't deliver, but it's worth eating in for the opportunity to talk to Louie.

Vinny's hands down. A while back we had a pie delivered which was literally folded when we received it. we ate it anyway (figuring the slice eventually is folded when you eat it). the owner of vinny's (luigi) heard his delivery guy fell on his way to delivering our pie. well, about a half hour later, luigi showed up at our door with a fresh pie & his apologies. this pizzeria also came thru for us during one of the winter snowstorms, delivering asap when we explained we had some very hungry kids to feed...
now that's service, not to mention the best pies in carroll gardens.

I like Vinny's food, but the last few times we ordered from them it took north of 45 minutes to deliver our food. A hero, rice ball and 2 slices should not take that long to deliver. Judging by my experience and the folding pie story by the OP, I'd say @ times they have delivery issues. But once the food was delivered it was good.

I completely agree with you. Sam's pizza is incredible. They don't deliver but eating there is quite an experience like something out of Good Fellas.
The guy who makes the pizza is really nice and that almost entirely stainless steel kitchen is beautiful! If you get a pizza to go you can see the kitchen when you go to the window in back to order your pie and your pie will be ready in about 10 minutes! We always get garlic with ours. I really hope that place stays around for a good while and doesn't go away like the College Bakery

Sal's gets the thumbs up from me. Great pie, always on time delivery... plus after 10 pies you get one free. Also good heros, wings... what's not to love?

I like Vinny's - 4th Place and Court Street. Their grandma pies are out of this world! Had a cheese slice at that place on Court and Degraw that another poster mentioned and it was very, very good.

Nino's and House of Pizza and Calzone have each delivered great pies to me in the past, with Nino's being a bit more consistent over the time period.

I would give Nino's the edge over the two.
