Any suggestions? Having a pastrami craving and I don't want to go to the Carnegie (lines are too long) and I want to go some place other than Katz's.

I favor Jay & Lloyds Deli on Avenue U Near East 28th Street over Mill Basin. This is a "hemishe" deli-the owners come around to the tables to make sure everything is the way it should be and and correct it with a smile if it's not. Prices are better than Mill Basin. Waiters and waitresses are also more "old-school". Good food, nice people.

At J & L kosher pastrami on rye.with pickles and cole slaw on the table was $8.95. (i tried katz's once-it is just so different from kosher pastrami i didn't enjoy it at all.) Their kishka is great and a portion is two pieces. Round potato knishes and creamy kasha knishes wonderful.

Mill Basin Deli
Great sandwiches and very good hot dogs grilling in the front window.
Recently a friend and I took a pilgramige to NJ to check out the almost famous Rutt's Hutt recently, "Rutt's Sucked", bad quality hot dogs, small and more like oscar meyer(ceral dogs). And the famous mustard topping seems to be no more than vinegary yellow mustard, with ground onion and a bit of pickle relish in it.
On the way home to Brooklyn all we could talk about was how there hot dogs could not hold a candle to Mill Basin Deli's dogs.

I have to say Jay and Lloyd's is my call. They have the best combination of everything you want in a good deli. Personally, I am not enamored with Mill Basin Deli. Adelman's has poor food and mediocre sandwiches, but excellent fries and perhaps the best hot dogs. There is another deli on Ave. P near McDonald Ave. whose name I forget (it may be Paul's or something to that effect). They have, hands down, the best deli sandwiches in Brooklyn. However, their fries and knishes are so lacking that it makes it difficult to go there often.
