<content>"jahn-chee" korean food is my favorite. jahn-chee is korean for event/gathering.. so "event food" (which is the equivalent of korean catering). whenever there is a wedding, a birthday party, holiday celebrations or any sort of gathering - even if it's simply after church meal on sunday, jahn-chee food is key!

my favorite is kalbi-jjim, which is korean short rib beef marinated in a sweet sauce and cooked, alongside carrots, potatoes and other vegetables.

there are a few staples of jahn-chee food, make sure to get these things if you're going to order from any of the jahn-chee jeeps (korean catering locations, which i will list).

- kalbi jjim (korean marinated short rib beef)
- jap chae (vermicelli noodles stir fryed with meat and vegetables)
- kim bbap (korean rolls, usually with a mix of beef, da kwon - yellow sweet radish, vegetables)
- dduk (korean rice cakes)
- fried fish pieces (pieces of fish coated in yellow outside and then fried)
- mandoo (korean fried dumplings)
- and then the assorted ban chan (korean side dishes - kimchee, da kwon, etc)

a lot of these items - like kalbi jjim - it's key to call beforehand and order it. they will not have it ready on the spot to sell.

as for places to go:
- there is a jahn-chee place next to kum kang san on northern blvd that is good, very busy
- han sol party house (near murray hill LIRR station)
- there is a place on murray st and northern blvd (right in the same building as the han yang supermarket, but the entrance is facing out towards kfc)
- there's another place on northern blvd near the old quartet movie theatre, next to the korean drinking place (prince 2) and the otb that i hear is good

i'm sorry that i don't know the names of these places, but hopefully i've explained it enough to understand what i mean. usually, these places will all have "jahn-chee" or some spelling similar on the awnings.</content>

<content>I'm thrilled to hear that! We love the place. Next time try Hansol Party House for comparison- it is also outstanding. And I've had a few holiday sushi parties for my academy students catered by Northern Sushi- they did a fantastic job as well.

What did you order, btw?</content>

<content>i think Maru may have changed names in the past few months. but their menu doesn't appear to have changed, and a tray of kalbi ribs we ordered was not only available on short notice but was rich and well-flavored, with chunks of succulent daikon. more than worth the trip to Flushing ...</content>
