It's perfect when the weather is nice, they have a huge backyard. If you like southern bbq, I'd say it's worth the trip.

i am the biggest supporter of red hook there is, i live here, eat here and love here. So come to Red Hook and the Pioneer is an awesome bar. Friendly, good drinks, cheap and a good mix of people. But the pulled pork sandwich I had there was cold and tasteless. The bbque sauce tasted store bought, sweet and not spicy. Maybe I ordered wrong...

Ate there tonight-

Bleh. What's up with the Mac & Cheese? It was baked bread crumbs with a few macaronis and a small layer of cheese on top. the brisket was uninspiring, the only highlight wsas the french fries.

Beer was cheap, staff was friendly, crowd was fun - I'll be back to drink, but will probably not order food.

Pioneer is one of my favorite bars. I highly recommend the BBQ, french fries, and watermelon margaritas. The atmosphere is down home friendly with a bit of southern charm and the bad art display will crack you up!
