I had my first taste of chilled Lambrusco last night and would like to know if there were many restaurants around park slope that serve it. Also, are there some Lambruscos that are better than others?

Thanks!

It's on the menu at Total Wine Bar...didn't order it though, based on adolescent memories of Riunite Lambrusco....so, yes, I am sure that there are some better than others....

I think they've got it at T'ost, the new panini place in the South Slope (7th ave and 14th or 15th st.). As I recall, they were serving it by the glass during the 7th avenue street fair. Don't recall what label, but it went well with the panini and salads we had there then.

Just a note about buying Lambrusco at places that serve it by the glass... the two times I've ordered it that way, it was brought to me completely flat. Since most places aren't able to move any quantity of Lambrusco, it will generally sit there for a while, so chances are good you'll get a bubble-free glass.

I don't know of any place in Brooklyn that serves it, but Via Emilia, in Manhattan (Park Ave South around 20th?) has a wine list that specializes in Lambrusco. You can order glasses of different producers. Since Via Emilia is also really good and really cheap, it's probably worth a trip into the city.
