Both of these places are part of a nightclub. Cavo is said to have great seafood appetizers and souvlakis. I have not heard anything about Ammos--the restaurant that is connected to Central lounge. Appreciate any feedback

Cavo is ok, but in my opinion, pretty overpriced for the neighborhood. Sure, it is a cool looking place, but you get the feeling you are paying mostly for the atmosphere, not the food. It's not quite as bad a place like Barolo in SoHo that is all atmosphere with horrible food; Cavo has decent food. Never been to Ammos, but I assume it's pretty similar.

I went to Cavo last summer and the food was acceptable. It wasn't particularly Greek, more vaguely Mediterranean/Italian. It's a great place for people watching, very interesting for a non-greek, I found.

Ammos is a better restaurant. The problem with cavo is that the food always gets to the table cold. They use fancy Greek names for many of the dishes, but they are ordinary.Lastly the wait staff is good and knowlagable, but the bartenders in the inside bar are rude, and arrogant.
At Ammos the food is good. The food gets to you hot. Although it is part of a club it is seprated. You wont have rowdy drunks near you. The waitstaff is also knowlagable.
Ammos is the better Restuarant

hi,
we live in manhattan and go to astoria ALOT to dine at AMMOS its amazing, the food is newer greek food and the place is beautiful and its a scene, its more of the next generation of greeks that run the place and its NOT like the typical city greek tavernas that are looking old and grundgy to us in the city, so its worth the trip for the food and the setting and its so trendy looking who wud ever think it would be in astoria on a simple street. i would like to know more about Cavo? does it have music and is it good for all ages? thanks
