Pita Pan in Astoria--any comments

I have heard many great things and many bad things about Pita pan in Astoria. Most people say..it is the closest to the traditional greek sytle souvlakia while others think the portions ar tooo small. Any comments? Recommendations

authentic??? authentic fast food joint - sure. It's actually pretty good food - but it also costs a lot more than most pita sandwiches in the neighborhood.
    but.. gads... who designed it??

They just moved next door and are having their grand opening this weekend. Free Food and Drink for everyone. Their food had gone from good to excellent. They will officially open on Monday. Finally a clean place with good tasting Greek fast food. All those other dumps should take notice.

Went to Pita Pan once, it was ok, just felt (and tasted) like fast food to me though, I probably won't be back.

can't speak for pita pan, but on 30th on the other side of the subway across the hospital (near 30th anc crescent) is a place called pita hot which is quite good.

Pita Hot looks like a falafel and fresh juice joint. Pita Pan is a spruced-up Greek fast food joint without the grit that grub needs to taste great. For an authentic meat-stuffed pita experience, I would recommend Tony's.

I had a good panini there with Greek ingredients and a subpar smoothie. The acai smoothies at the natural food store further south on 30th ave are much better. I might go back for another panini sometime, tho.

Pita Hot is fantastic. I love the guys - they're very friendly - and their lamb gyros are to die for.
