Update from a returning Bayside ex-pat
We went to visit Dad Monday night and went to his favorite little restaurant, Villa Rustica. I was surprised at how good it was and how friendly the service was. They were offering specials and we took advantage of the free glass of ( house but not awful) wine and coffee with dessert. The dessert was a firm slice of apple strudel with a fresh coat of powdered sugar. Our entrees; chicken marsala and chicken piccata were good tasting, well prepared and large portions. I had a side of their own vegetable medley that was so good I could have easily had it for my main dish. DH had his pasta upgraded to whole wheat for a $2 surcharge.
So, go for it Bayside, it's well priced and right in the 'hood. -
If that's the one on Bell near 40th Ave, I have.
It's serviceable, nothing more than that, I'm afraid.
Go to the Italian/Pizza joint on Bell & 73rd Ave. for similar but superior fare.›2 Replies-

re: MercuryGS
Listen...this place ROCKS! I haven't tasted their Pizza but their Southern Italian Entree, Lasagna, Shells, Eggplant Parmigna, etc, etc, is just the BEST!
Very Spicy and Garlicy! The place is a bit noisy, with lots of Families, you may want to try them for take out, and they do deliver locally
