Last night I tried to make my first visit to the Arepa lady. I went to 79th and Roosevelt and there was a woman selling arepas. I thought she must be the Arepa lady, but there was no beatific smile, in fact she barely cracked a smile of any kind. The arepa was tasty, but hardly transcendent. My conclusion is that this definitely wasn't the Arepa lady, but if I'm right, what happened to the Arepa lady?

"hardly transcendent" - Perhaps it's like Difara's. You have to really like pizza in general to think his pizza is 'transcendent'. The same with Peter Lugar, if you don't really like steak, Lugar's steaks will not seem brilliant.

I can't say whether you encounter THE Arepa Lady or not, but I have seen another woman who is NOT the Arepa Lady, but who was selling arepa in the same general area. She's around the same age of the Arepa Lady, but without the sparkle in the eyes.
