Good or bad, MY vote is for Full Moon on E. 187 St. Capri on Dreiser Loop in Coop City good also. Had a few others-Nicks on Gunhill Rd supposed to be good but to me it was ordinary.

I agree, Full Moon is good and I grew up on Capri's pizza in Co-op City! lol.

I use to like Peppinos on White Plains Road, 241st Street, but lately, they haven't been too great. Then again, I've been ordering pies delivered to Yonkers, so maybe the slices are still good.

By the slice, definitely Louie and Ernie's. Whole pies are another story but get a reheated slice at L and E's.

I agree with the Louie and Ernie's recommendation. I've tried a bunch of slice joints in the Bronx and haven't found much else to recommend. Nothing particularly good around Morris Park or Arthur Ave. (Full Moon is okay, but unexceptional).

My top vote goes to Louie and Ernies and second place to Domenicks. L&E's sausage is the best anywhere.

From one Bronxite to another, sausage can make or break our love for a pizza spot. Fortunately, Louie's and Ernie's gets their sausage from S&D Pork Store right up the street on Crosby Avenue. Frank's Pizza on Middletown Road gets their sausage from Arthur Avenue. Go give their sausage calzone a try. I ask for mine well done so it comes out golden, hot, and crispy ... It's perfect every time.

I'm assuming Frank's get their sausage from Calabria or one of the butcher's? Maybe Vincent's, which has some really fantastic stuff.

How is S & D Pork Store? What are their offerings? Next time I hit L & E's (whenever that may be), I'll drop in (if there's stuff I can't get at Vincent's).

The owners at Frank's Pizza didn't disclose which sausage supplier they use -- could be Calabria's, Biancardi's, Vincent's, or even Pete's (the butcher inside the retail market next to Mikes Deli) ... your guess is as good as mine.

S&D is your typical NY Pork Store of years ago minus any sawdust at your feet. The owner here is originally from East Harlem and runs the business with his daughter and several other hirees. He makes very good fresh and dried sausage of various varieties.
I prefer Arthur Avenue's offerings, but I have been known to shop at S&D from time to time. NewYorkNewHaven, keep in mind that Vincent's is a complete butcher shop and S&D is a pork store. Many true pork stores only deal with what comes from the pig.
Pork sausage is king there, but they do have cold cuts and limited other stuff too.

Wow, that's well beyond my recommended daily allowance for All-Caps. :(

I'll echo the Louie and Ernie's recommendation, although they never have their white pie available by the slice when I visit. That's ok though, because if anyone ever knew I'd gone all the way up to Louie and Ernie's and failed to bring back a whole white pie, I might never live down the shame.

Just don't go on Sunday b/c wifey is there in place of the regular staff.
I find this pizza to be consistently good and to be the best "standard" slice in the Bronx right now.

            Domenick's Pizza

            Bronx, NY 10469
            (718) 547-6171 ... No Delivery [ever], very good pizza.

hmmmmmmmm.... basically the only other mention of Dominick's I can find is yours. unfortunately, I will be going on a sunday for the pizza tour - also, we only get regular slices, no toppings (unless in overtime). but I will still definitely check it out.

3 boys from italy seems very interesting. gotta check it out.

What did you think of Dominick's Pizza? It's not far from me and I'm looking to survey more BX pizza.

it's aright. big slices. pretty good ingredients, but nothing very special as far as a slice goes. Good people that run it though.

                  3 boys was great though.

I too am looking to survey more BX pizza including: Emilio's on Morris Park ave, and Andrew Pizza Chef - around you

NewYorkNewHaven, Domenick's pizza is a VERY good standard slice -- one of the best in the Bronx. I disagree with the praises given here for 3 Boys From Italy. Those slices are good perhaps at 2 or 3am if you're drunk. The 3 Boys slice is basically a downsized Cross Bronx slice (which in my opinion is pitiful).

There's plenty of good pizza in the northeast Bronx where some of us Italians still reside. Check listings for Throggs Neck, Pelham Bay, and Morris Park. A solid favorite of mine is Circle Pizza in Parkchester. They rarely disappoint with their Sicilian. Try Franks Pizza on Middletown Road if you like a thin Grandma slice. They make theirs with tomato, mozzarella, and pesto. Emilio's and Captains in Morris Park are both good too. Emilio's has a very nice variety of "topped" pizzas ... Captains less so.

Btw, Giovanni's on Fordham Road near University Avenue had a pretty decent slice when I was there last. They deliver too.

Never been to Frank's, but I work one block from Joe's Pizza, also on Middletown in Pelham Bay about 5 blocks east - just past Crosby Ave.

Best pizza I've ever had and I'm a NYC native. He makes a broccoli rabe focaccia and spinach focaccia that are delicious. Regular slice is just about perfect.
The food is clearly made with the utmost care.
I can't for the life of me understand why the place isn't crowded. (well, it's location - it's off the beaten track)

                        Check it out, hounds.

when I visited these places, it seemed like Franks was for kids and Joes was for the teachers.

Oh man, this really brings back memories. I don't know how long Dominick's been around, but in the mid to late 70s I lived on Hone Ave just around the corner from this place and would wait for the bus in front of it, and stop for a slice of pizza now and then. I really miss NY pizza :( I got to stop by and visit the old neighborhood again someday and get a slice for old times' sake.

Five years late to the thread but great to see people talking Bronx slices. Brooklyn gets too much hype!

No question Louie and Ernie's is the best Bx slice I've ever had. So creamy and delicious.
It's fundamentally a perfect NY slice.

I am going to check out this Dominick's place...sounds great!
