Back in April someone was looking for live crawdads. One of the posts made reference to the Crawdad Festival in Isleton. There was a link to the official site for the festival. Now I love crawdads and the idea of a party with them as the theme sounded like great fun to me, especially when there's Zydeco music too! So we're taking a ride up there on Friday and might go back on Saturday too! Are any other hounds planning to visit this party? Have any of you ever been there?

I haven't been, but have heard from people who have that it is a lot of fun although it is VERY crowded with cars parked up and down every narrow street.

it is a very cool town historically. a lot of the chinese who built the delta dikes lived there and you can see the vestiges of china and late 19th century wild west architecture. (and in Locke, up the road.) but the chinese food is long gone, from all i can tell, though the places that still exist feature old fashioned chop suey and chow mein.

Hope you're wrong but I know what you mean. That's why we quit going to the Gilroy Garlic festival many years ago. I figure I've got to check this one out though!

If you need a break from the crowds, head up to Locke to Al the Wop's. Great FUNKY bar, and really funky "restaurant". Menu consists of your choice of steak or chicken.... wow, all the choices. Don't expect Hound type chow, but you'll never get an overcooked steak.

Ryde Hotel outside of Walnut Grove would also be a nice reprieve. Don't have dinner ($$$ and you'll be mad about it), but drinks are a good plan.

Boy do I wish I could go. Not even so much for the food, but for the music! Great line up of Zydeco and Cajun music. Would dearly love to hear Steve Riley's band, reputed to be one of the best Cajun bands currently working. Unfortunately I need to be here (but for happy reasons).

You heard correctly- he blew me away at Strawberry about 6 years ago. His band looked like they could play 12 hours in a row and not miss a lick.
