Thomas Beisel recs?

Going tonight to Thomas Beisel for the first time. I'm not so familiar with Austrian food. Any recommendations, either generally Austrian or specific to Thomas Beisel would be greatly appreciated!

  1. i had dinner there about a year ago...id avoid the country pate...a little too dry and crumbly for my taste.

    i had the pig cheeks...really good...but nothing amazing.

      The cod schnitzel is quite nice, and comes with a cucumber salad and a nice little potato salad. It's much better than the veal version. I've also had a few of their fish specials, which have been generally quite good, and once ordered their vegetarian entree, which involved a polenta cake with lots of different veggies and some fontina cheese, but there were a lot of things going on on the plate, and it was a lot more substantial -- and tasty -- that many of the veggie options at comparable places.

      Also, if they have the fried mushroom appetizer, get it. Not greasy, just delicious.

    2. I love the pork cheeks, panini, beet salad, napoleon -- topped off by a Hoegarden. Ahhhh . . .
