From the SF Examiner...
"There's a new tea room on Pacific Avenue, Eddie Lau's and May Hung's 'Dynastea'. Finally a Russian Hill Tea Room."
Has anyone been? Can anyone report?

For recent posts (or recently opened places), it's better just to scan the board index or use good old Ctrl-F, because Google sometimes takes up to a month to index CH pages.

From Stanley Stephan's review, it sounds like the place only features oolongs and black teas. I don't get the point of that.

They have a little of everything. It's just not as extensive as Celadon, Ten Ren or Imperial Tea and is more mid range quality (Celadon has ruined me). There are a couple of higher grade teas, but only a few.

They even have ... tea bags.

Before that gets anyone hysterical, May is very accomodating. I think it is more the tea room experience she is going for.

So she is is also catering to the non savy tea person who might like to drop by ... which may be a good thing because when I was having a pot of lichee tea the other night I was sitting next to the ugly American.

This woman was just reaming May out for serving tea in the traditional way ... complaining how impractical a gaiwan was ... and why these little cups, she asked. I don't like to have to keep filling the cup up with hot water ... on and on and on. I did my best to give her a look like she had two heads and told May how enjoyable the tea was.

May just brewed her up big pot of tea to accomodate her. This was not a person who was going to be open to explanations about how to enjoy tea.

Anyway, even if there were only oolong and black teas, why would that be a bad thing?

... and in the next sentence they mentioned ..

Kent Liggett and Peter Erickson just opened their 1550 Hyde St. Cafe & Wine Bar. It's all class. But affordable class. Very grown up. ...

Two weeks ago the Examiner had a column on the restaurants on Cortland Avenue which I posted about a few weeks before.

Am I developing a nose for news as well as good food? If I could only write better and wanted to do actual work instead of just typing this stuff off the top of my head, there might be money in this for me ...

oh wait a minute, my BA is in Journalism ... no money in that I found many, many, many lifetimes ago. Better stick with the computer career.
