Here's the deal - Haveing a foursome go out for a small bachelorette event tomorrow night. The bride-to-be is a serious carnivore and we thought some sort of "meat-themed" evening would be fun. However, one of the guests does not eat any red meat. In addition, there are some budgetary constraints. Oy! Here is the preliminary game plan - swank drinks at Campbell Apartment in Grand Central and then hop the #7 to go to Philly's Smokehouse for BBQ and blues. Now, I've noticed lousy reviews for Philly on this site. Then again, I've been to Pearson's in LIC and think it royally sucks. Would take her to either Virgil's or Blue Smoke after drinks, if she hadn't been to both places recently. Any other suggestions? Or is there a Chowhounder out there who thinks that Philly's has improved?

Keep it classy...walk the walk from Grand Central down to BLUE SMOKE...but first:

-Stroll through GCT's Vanderbilt Hall for an extraordinary exhibit about the New York City Subways on the 100th Anniversary...great photo op backdrops!
-Get a quick "elixir-of-love" appetizer downstairs at the OYSTER BAR (a dozen of your choice and slurp down the "liquor").
-Stop in Madison Square Park and say HI to Chester A. Arthur - the Statue.

Bring your camera, enjoy the "Q" and stay for the music.
