Amazing Moroccan Food in Bay Ridge

I can't believe my luck -- my old favorite Moroccan restaurant, La Maison du Couscous, changed hands awhile ago, and after that, the food was never the same, and I was lamenting where of where to find the perfect tagine again. Then, I'm walking down Third Ave and what do I see? A new Moroccan restaurant, Les Babouches, on 78th and 3rd ... only it's not exactly new -- it's owned by the same folks who started La Maison du Couscous. Better yet -- the food is fantastic ! It was like revisiting my La Maison days. What heaven to taste bakoula (sauteed spinach) and zaalouk (eggplant salad) once again! The crowning glory was being able to savor the fabulous chicken tagine with lemon and olives...it was amazing. The chicken falls right off the bone, and the sauce, with the lemony-olivey flavors blended together, is stuff I've been dreaming about for months! I can't believe this wonderful restaurant is back and I know I'll be there at least 2x/week! If you haven't tried Moroccan food, go to Les Babouches - you will be hooked!

Wow, I'm glad I read this post, because I've been meaning to try Maison...I guess Babouches will be the one instead. Thanks a lot for the post.

Yes, Les Babouches is excellent. My wife and I ate there a few weeks back. We've also gotten food delivered from there. The tagines are outstanding. I also recommend the lentil soup. The service was very friendly, and the atmosphere warm and inviting. We'll definitely be back!
