A friend of mine just bought a house in Marine Park, and he's looking for places to eat around there. There was a thread on shopping in Marine Park, but I haven't found much on this board about eating around there. Any suggestions?

I have a super hot roast beef sandwich tip that I have not yet investigated:

Rocky's Meat Market in Marine Park, Ave R & let's say Nostrand: just perfectly tender, fresh cooked roast beef, excellent italian bread, a few slices of american cheese and a few shakes of grated pepper

I've had Rocky's Roast Beef sandwich exactly as you described it and it's pretty damned good, get over there, but unfortunately, you can't live on RB sandwiches for anything more than a few week tear.
Sadly, Marine Park is a culinary desert.

I think your friend is S.O.L.
Marine Park has little to offer by way of 'good' food.
Jackie's Delicatessen on Ave.S is OK, not as good as the good German/Irish delis I remember everywhere in Brooklyn. Then there's Al's Deli on Ave.S and Nostrand Ave. that's still German owned, but again, as the demographics left, so did the old fashioned food.
The lobster place on Flatbush, near the ToysRUs really does suck and I've given it a few tries and last but not least, and that's not saying much, there's still the ultra cheap Lenny & John's Pizza at Flatbush between P and Flatlands- the pizza's still pretty good. Rice Balls are fine, but the food, while it's cheap, really does come up short, though the locals swear it's good (it's the price that tricks them..).

Slavi's Italian Restaurant is good. the food is good, the service attentive and the prices fair. It is on Quentin Road and Flatbush Avenue. There is also the Mil Basin Deli on Avenue T. Also an italian resautant in Mill Basin in the strip mall.

Lenny and John's has the best rice balls and chicken rolls around. However, their pizza and food are just OK. The food always tastes a little too salty, but the prices, as mentioned, are excellent. I believe Tuesday is a deal on a large pie for takout only.

Whenever i'm up visiting my folks, we go to Michael's, Nostrand Ave and Ave. R. Good old-fashioned red-sauce place with a long list of specials. It's been around since the early 60's

If you make a trip down to emmons ave in sheepshead bay, not all that far from marine park, there's a very good thai restaurant there. just off the corner of bedford ave on emmons. the name escapes me at the moment, it's too early in the morning(SIAM?) My wife and I have never had a bad meal there.

Unfortunatley, Marine Park itself has little to boast. The aforementioned Michael's is a good choice for red sauce Italian. Across the street is a pretty good (not great) pizza place (the name escapes me). On Ave. U an about 24th St. is a good deli, Jay and Loyd's. On Nostrand Ave and Ave. is a place for excellent roast beef snadwiches, but not really anything else, Brennan and Carr.
The aforementioned Lenny and John's may be considered on the cusp of Marine Park, on Flatbush and Ave. N. I wrote up something on that a little further down. In the neighboring Mill Basin, is Mill Basin Deli, an excellent Deli. Further down on Ave. U and about E. 63rd Street is a popular Italian place called La Villa, in a strip mall. I think it is more for takeout/delivery, as it was originally a local pizza place that they spruced up. The food is pretty good, but I don't think it is as good as it's reputation. A little closer to Marine Park is a great place for meats, prepared foods, and sandwiches; Landi's Pork Store, on Ave N. and Mill Ave. (?). Across the street is an excellent Chinese place, Kar.

In the opposite direction, on Ave. U and E. 14th Street is a very good Chinese place, called Ocean Palace Pavillion. This area is an extension of Brooklyn China Town.

Nearby in Sheepshead Bay there are some good places. On Emmons Ave. there is an excellent Italian place called Maria's, a good Chinese place called China Max (I love the seafood soup), a few good Turkish places (Bay Shish Kabob, Liman's) and an excellent Russian place on Ocean Ave (Baku Palace).

Most places in that area aren't necessarily fancy, but most have pretty good food. All that is left is the diner category, and there are some good ones. On Ave. M and E. 19th Street is Caravelle. On Ave. U and ?? (a block before Faltbush Ave and King's Plaza) is King's Plaza Diner. And close to Marine Park on Flatbush Ave. and Fillmore Ave. is perhaps the best of the bunch, the Floridian. They are open later than the rest, as well.
