Just a note for anybody in the South Bronx who is looking for some good, quick food. There is a cart called Heavenly Delights across the street from the Bronx Supreme Court. A good choice if you are at Yankee Stadium or doing jury duty.

Heavenly Delights has really good, really fresh food - lots of vegetables and curries. Menu is primarily indian, soulfood and jamaican influenced. Menu changes everyday, usually two or three chicken dishes, a tofu dish, 5 or 6 vegetables, and a couple of homemade cakes or desserts. Recent menu included stewed tofu, jerk chicken, curried chicken, collard greens, potatoes and spinach, beans and rice, coconut cake and chocolate cake.

I have to second the endorsement, and note that Heavenly is one of the few places in the City, and for all I know in the States, which includes a grilled cat dish on the menu (listed under under "Creole Chat"). If you can get over the thought of eating cat, which can be very salty, then I would recommend ordering some fried plantains as accompaniment.

I'll bet if we look hard enough and find their horse and bull "chats", we'd judge them equally delicious...Is the dish somehow related to Indian fare like chicken chat?

Do I hear the "moderators" tiptoeing behind us?

I don't know the name of that place, but it had a big "Cuchifritos" sign out front last time I looked. Based on my recollection, I'd place it just west of the NW corner of 161st St. & Walton Ave.

As to the meaning of the "Creole Chat" from the food truck, discussed below, I think it's a stretch, without any evidence of French-Caribbean influence, to assume that the name is of French origin, rather than, as someone suggested, related to Indian chat. I truly doubt they're serving up cute little kitties in sauce from a food truck in the Bronx. But I'm open to hearing why I'm wrong about that. I tried Google a little bit to see if I could come up with Caribbean food terms on line, but no luck.

In any case, thank you to the person the posted about the food truck. Now that I'm about to return to my old job in the Bx, looking forward to checking it out soon.
