<content>Yay! A lounge has finally opened up in the Long Island City area (on Vernon Blvd at 47th). Have been a couple of times, to check out the vibe, the drinks, and of course the food.

Vibe is nice.. laid back, kitsch-free 70s feel, with couches and booths. There's also a back patio, which, although too dark on opening night, will definitely prove to be a place I'll be spending some nights on this summer.

Drink prices are reasonable, if not especially cheap (a pint of Brooklyner Weisse is $4.50 ... some pints are $4, others $5). House wines I believe are $4.50. First time I visited, they hadn't obtained a license to sell hard liquor, but that's been taken care of now.

The food at Lounge 47 has been the really nice surprise. Menu isn't too ambitious, but everything we've tried has been good to excellent. Standout appetizer thus far has been the wasabi devilled eggs ($3). As for mains, the lamb sandwich with grilled peppers ($8.50) was quite good.I had a bit of trouble tasting the lamb through the smokiness of the grilled meat and peppers, but my dining buddy disagreed. I ordered a good ol' burger n' fries ($7) with chipotle mayo, ordering the fries well-done and the burger rare. Happy to say it was one of the few times I've actually gotten a burger rare after ordering it that way. Fries are cut in a thin french-style, and were way better than I would've expected.

Obviously, the place isn't breaking any new ground, but for us folks who live in the area, it's a nice new place to grab a drink at, or hop out for a quick bite when we dont' feel like cooking.

<content>Great review! I moved to the area about 2 months ago and confess, do most of my 'hanging out' in Manhattan, but have passed by this place several times on the way to the dry cleaners and (overpriced) 'gourmet-ish' market and have certainly been intrigued. Will try to check it out if the opportunity presents itself -- thanks!</content>

<content>Lounge 47 is on Vernon and (surprise surprise ;)) 47th. Can't remember if it's Ave or Rd or St or Blvd or whatever... there may be two 47ths in a row, but it's right in that area... a few blocks from the Vernon/Jackson 7 train stop.

Re: the overpriced gourmet market... I'm guessing he's speaking of the glorified deli on Vernon and 50th. I actually think it's pretty good for what it is... when I got here a year and a half ago, it was essentially just another deli, but they've slowly been adding better and better products. I guess I don't even find the prices to be that offensive, for the most part.</content>

<content>I was just having this conversation with someone. I said something along the lines of "no no, LIC doesn't have a grocery store, video store or lounge so we're a long way from being Williamsburgified."</content>

<content>I was there last night with a friend and loved the place. it's a pretty small place, but the waitress and bartender were very friendly. i had the cod poor boy sandwich and my friend had the chicken sandwich on foccaccia. the food was tasty and very reasonably priced. the only thing i didn't like about the place was that my beer wasn't quite cold enough. i love places that chill the glasses. overall, my friend and i enjoyed the place and will be going back for more.</content>

<content>Sounds great! Last time I went by it, it was still under construction, but you could tell a nice place was about to unfold. I look forward to trying it out soon.

BTW, the only beer that should be served really cold are the truly tasteless ones to begin with, such as the BudMillerCoors Lights. ;-)</content>
