Since the weather forecast indicates that it will be raining and in the high 50's all weekend long, I've been trying to think of good fun bars and lunch spots to hang out in. Would love to hear about your favorite rainy day places in Brooklyn or Queens?

Muggs Ale House in Williamsburg is a good bet. A huge beer selection (they're only about 2 blocks from the Brooklyn Brewery), a fantastic jukebox, and good pub food. Not a bad place to spend an hour or two.

Closer to home, try Angry Wades on Smith Street. They have a gas fireplace that's sure to be going on these cold damp days.

Robin de Bois on Smith St- excellent jukebox, funky decor(they sell the stuff in there),pebbled backyard to dine in (and smoke!!!) should the weather permit, and the food's not bad- very good quiche and fresh salads and big fluffy omelettes and lots of beers and drinkable house wine- .

Hey DeeDee, I would recommend Sparky's (Court St.). There nothing like a good beer on a cold, rainy day. And they currently have the Weyerbacher Quad, which is the perfect bad weather beer: strong, malty, superbly balanced. Even better than La Trappe's Quad dare I say. Try it before they run out.

Plus darts, pool table, roaming dogs, superb vibe, and a jukebox that has Gillian Welch. The perfect formula for a crappy day.

Damn, I'll probably be there tonight!

Hope & Anchor in Red Hook - GREAT brunch, nice wine/beer list - very good bloody mary. I've found myself wittling away many hours there recently - and in some ways the decor speaks of Memorial Day (Maybe it's the WW2 Sailors depicted on the bar) . . . I'll be there!
