Drama Cafe in Park Slope?
This is amazing...I came across this old post and it just shocked me that this place has been being worked on for more than three years? And then when they finally opened a couple of months ago they were promptly closed by the DOH. They've since reopened but Drama Cafe has to be a huge money pit.
We went there this past weekend...kind of a strange mix. It was early and we ordered some paninis...they were OK (nothing amazing- at least they used real roast pork in the cubano). This was like at 9am in the morning and they were BLARING smooth jazz. No one needs Kenny G at that level. The guy in the kitchen was listening to Spanish music- that would have been better and more authentic. The service was slow even though we were the only people in the restaurant. We sat in the garden which was a hodge-podge of old antique stuff that you might see at Robin du Bois on Smith mixed with inflatable Corona bottles that you might see in a frat boy's dorm room or on Spring Break.
The inside of the place is actually quite cozy with the giant frosted glass and super cool vintage ceiling fans. Obviously a lot of work when into this place but things are just "off"--probably a lot like the shrimp salad they have in a refrigerated case by the front window...sitting in the sun all day long.
Has anyone been here? I never see anyone in there and we went just to say we did...not sure if we'll be back.
