Had occasion to run up 3rd Ave. in Bay Ridge last night. There seems to be a new BBQ place in the works on around 72nd. Acapulco's restaurantnear (near 73rd., I think) continues to do good tacos (white meat chicken with decent guacamole, nonetheless) for $1. Across the street (and next door to restaurant "Eurasia") is a Russian grocery with an amazing selection of Baltic, Ukranian, and Russian beers. More Baltikas than I've seen outside of Russia, as well as the comprehensively excellent Aldaris Zelta from Latvia.

I agree about Acapluco. My husband and I love that place. Haven't seen Huaraches anywhere else. Although they are not "elegant", the service is very gringo-friendly. Anything I've had there so far has been delicious and well-prepared.
And thanks for the heads up on the BBQ place. As an apartment owner out there, it may help my jones as I walk past the backyards with the grills going, although it's probably an entirely different animal, anyway.
