Hi -

Looks like I'm being treated to brunch at Oznot's Dish tomorrow. I see good things posted about the place on the board, but nothing about brunch.
What can I expect? What should I not miss?

Thanks!

i have been once and i really enjoyed my choice. i got the cured smoked salmon benedict--it comes with both salad and potatoes. my boyfriend, who is extremely picky loved his smoky mountain (?) which is peasant bread with an egg that has been dropped inside. we both really like it! we tried to go back on new years day --but it was too crowded. i definitely recommend it.

it's gone downhill a bit, and they haven't changed their menu in a while

but they have a great tea selection and their chai is damn good

the french toast is good as is the rocky mtn bread...

they used to have a goat cheese crepe that was TO DIE FOR with chutney topping... but alas it has disappeared.

You're in for a treat. Brunch is the best meal at Oznot's. I particularly like the Huevos Tripoli and the Cardamom French Toast. The tea selection is fabulous. And there is an Indian egg dish that is also amazing.

I've always found their brunch mediocre. And the last time I went the manager was as rude as can be. Of course, this was several years ago, so perhaps things have improved.

Oznot's is probably my favorite place for brunch. I am not a big fan of breakfast foods in general, but they manage to turn the standard eggs-and-accompanying-meat fare into something new and interesting. My favorite was a Green Eggs and Lamb dish, with poached eggs, lamb merguez and potato hash and a green spice paste (don't remember what it was); unfortunately this item is not on the current menu. I had another dish that was very good as well - either Eggs Tripoli or Eggs Madagascar.

I think things have changed at Oznot's since the last poster's visit a few years ago, as the staff has been very friendly every time I have been.

we had a blah brunch experience on saturday. not bad, not great. i got the steak and eggs. passable eggs and potatoes--well, oddly enough we had two pepper shakers and no salt on the table (and these were fairly saltless renditions) so once i OBTAINED salt they became passable. the steak that was supposed to be spicy was not at all, but certainly was CHEWY. i had really been hoping to try green eggs & lamb so i had alot of trouble deciding on my order...but everyone around us seemed to be enjoying what they got (i didn't notice anyone else with the steak and eggs). my friend was still hungry after finishing his poached eggs w/ grits and spinach...but he said it was pretty good. then he asked our waitress if they had muffins or toast that he could order in addition.

waitress: where's your plate?! (in no-nonsense mom voice)
friend: uh...gone. i finished. someone...took it away (confused and worried).
waitress: and you're STILL hungry? (incredulously).
friend: (nervous laughter).

we couldn't decide if that should be considered rude, but it made us laugh anyway.
