there are a couple of choices on this front. I'd say the best is La Portena on 37th Ave at 75th St--excellent sirloins and shell steakm, and a terrific, eminently shareable salad that includes watercress, avocado, shrimp, hearts of palm and other goodies. La Fusta, which is on Baxter Ave (near Elmhurst Hospotal)has its moments too, but I've always found the meat to be of slightly lesser quality than at La Portena.

Their pastas are better than Italian places in the area. Served "al dente" with various well made sauces. Considering that Argentina was settled mostly by Italians, really not a surprise. It's more than a steakhouse

For a 1st course the grilled chorizo is fine, with a real bite to it. Also good empenadas

There is a restaurant in Jackson Heights called La Boina Roja, located on 37th Avenue somewhere between 80th and 82nd Sts. Although the restaurant is not Argentine, they serve very high quality steaks and excellent parrilladas accompanied by tasty Colombian side dishes.

This is the best Colombian restaurant I have been to in New York.
