<content>My husband and I were taking one of our Friday night food drives last year (we pick a neighborhood and go in search of new restaurant finds) when we discovered a hidden gem in College Point. At 1460 College Point Boulevard is a Pizzeria called Cascarino's. The front is a regular pizza place, but if you wander in back there is another room that is an Italian restaurant.

This place is a must try. They do not reinvent the wheel here, they simply produce the best versions of dishes that I've tried in a long while. All of the food is cooked to order, the ingredients are beyond fresh, the flavors are true and bold and the waitstaff is solicitous without being intrusive. Add to this a very modest pricetag and huge portions and Cascarino's has become a regular haunt for us.

Personal favorites include their Minestrone, all of their salads, and a chicken dish that has potatoes, pancetta, mushrooms and white wine. My husband is a fan of several of their pasta dishes as well.

We haven't tried dessert there, so if anyone has and can recommend, please do.

      <content>Hey Jen,
They also have a place in Whitestone/Beechhurst at the end of 154th Street a few blocks north of Cookin' With Jazz.
Good chow for sure.
